Jet Boat Risk Disclosure

PASSENGER SAFETY AND SATISFACTION IS UNQUESTIONABLY AT THE FOREFRONT OF OUR OPERATION.

At Thunder Jet, your safety is just as important to us as the thrill of the ride. While we’re all about delivering high-speed excitement and unforgettable experiences, we’re equally focused on making sure every adventure is carried out with care and responsibility. Our team works hard behind the scenes to meet and exceed safety standards, so you can enjoy the journey with confidence.

The Pros Behind the Power
Our drivers are more than just thrill-seekers - they’re a fine blend of personality, skill, and professionalism, to ensure a safe and exhilarating experience for every passenger. Our jet boat drivers are professionally trained and licensed, with extensive on-river experience.

Precision-Powered Vessels
Every jet boat in our fleet features twin engines - not just for awesome power, but for added safety.
Our fleet is meticulously maintained to meet and exceed New Zealand’s strict commercial maritime safety standards. Each vessel is subject to routine inspections and servicing, ensuring peak performance and reliability on every ride. While rare, mechanical issues or environmental changes can occur, and our team is prepared to respond swiftly.

Our operation is certified and regularly audited by Maritime New Zealand.

Boarding with Confidence
Our Thunder Jet base is conveniently located at the Watersports Jetty in Queenstown Bay. The jetty can be busy with foot traffic, we recommend you watch your step, keep children close and follow any signage or staff directions when boarding or disembarking. Weather can make the jetty surfaces slippery, we advise wearing suitable footwear.

Before every ride, we’ll walk you through a detailed safety briefing and get you geared up with everything you’ll need. Our goal is to make sure you feel ready and well-prepared for the experience.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

Adventure Comes with Some Risk
Jet boating is an adventure activity and does include an element of risk.  Although uncommon, high-speed water activities do carry some risk. Accidents are rare, but the nature of high-speed water activities means they cannot be entirely ruled out.

Weather Considerations
Conditions on the water can change quickly. You might feel the cold, especially with water spray and wind chill. We recommend you dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

Health Considerations
If you have any existing medical conditions, recent injuries, or mobility concerns, we kindly ask that you speak with one of our team members before joining the experience.

Our Promise
While we follow strict safety protocols and take every precaution to ensure your safety and enjoyment, some risks cannot be entirely eliminated. Your safety and overall experience remain our top priorities, and we're committed to making your time with us as thrilling, safe, and memorable as possible.
